Wood Street Public Houses:  

Until recently there were two public houses in Wood Street Village – The Royal Oak and the White Hart.

The Royal Oak was sold in 2025 and the new owners have since put it back on the market.  It remains empty as of February 2026.

The White Hart tenants left in December 2025 and the owners, Stonegate, have actively been trying to find a new tenant. It also remains empty as of February 2026.

Refurbishment work is now ongoing & hopefully a new tenant will be forthcoming, ( February 2026 )

There was the Hare & Hounds on Broad Street – demolished for housing in around 2018
