Arthur Drummond:

Born in 1871 and lived at Pinks Hill. He was a talented artist, exhibiting at the Royal Academy by the age of 19.

In 1896 he designed and built his own small lathe. With the help of his brother Frank, an engineer, he set up production in a workshop next to their home at Old Gables.

In 1902 they opened a factory in Wood Street, exporting worldwide, and employing about 300 people. The factory finally closed in 1981 under management of Staveley Tools.
