Alfred died young at the age of 49. Husband of Brenda and father of Carol & Elizabeth. He loved gardening & was a committee member of Wood Street Horticultural Society. He served in the Royal Artillery in the second world war in Norway, North Africa & Italy. On being demobbed he took up sheet metal & wrought Iron work.
Wilfred J Pink b1908. & Wife Ilfra
Wilfred & Ilfra came to Wood Street in the 1930’s. He was a dedicated teacher & Headmaster & they raised three daughters. He served as Secretary, Chairman & President of the Horticultural Society for over 30 years. A member of the RSPB & was an authority on rare visitors to the area. He lived at Homecroft, Frog Grove Lane.

According to the Yellow Book: Thomas and Robert Purse lived in Wood Street around the beginning of the 1600’s.
