The Daborn Family

Refer to the Yellow Book for more information.  Either spelt Daborn or Dawborne. In 1583 the recruiting officer listed Thomas Dawborne and Thomas Daborn as billmen selected.  The national Muster Roll of 1583/4 was a head-count of all adult males in England between the ages of sixteen and sixty, taking into account their military capability in terms of the weapons they held. It was carried out in anticipation of a possible Spanish invasion, Billmen were infantry soldiers armed with long-handled pole weapons known as bills.  In 1562 one of the Dabornes lived in an area near the end of Frog Grove Lane, Thomas Danorne had a house called Hooks from 1566 to at least 1605.
